Review of Heartland Theatre's "Tartuffe" Fall 2021

Tartuffe directed by Don LaCasse

Expanding the reach of C-U at the Show

We hopped on the highway to head to Blo-No

Seeing just local shows seemed somewhat aloof

So we set out to see Heartland's production of Tartuffe

It was somewhat confusing to hear just words in rhyme

Without a Hamiltonian beat helping actors keep time

But with talented actors and a beautiful set

The show came off better than betters could bet

We knew Kevin Wickard would shine as Cleante

As long as his role would not include sword play

But Brian Artman's Orgon injected life to each scene

Whether naive or duped or angry or mean

And when Orgon shared the stage with the scheming Tartuffe

Artman and Aric Diamani made laughs heard through the roof

One particular other who acted with great flair

Was Adam Alexander's smooth turn as Valere

And we will always remember Lynda Rettick's Dorine

The only thing they could rhyme with her name was a spleen

Kristi Zimmerman was hilarious as Elmire

Her scenes with Tartuffe were filled with flirting and fire

A triumph for sure directed by Don LaCasse

Especially made safely as the whole cast was masked

The lights shined just right and the sound was in tune

And Robert Goode was better than good with costumes

Up next at Heartland is Human Terrain

No laughing at that one, just trauma and pain

But we celebrate theatre in all of its genres

Rhyming comedies and tear-filled dramas

There are probably other things we should mention

But saying "great show" was our major intention
